Disney Movies Stereotypes
This Documentary is about the stereotypes existed in Disney movies and it argues that Disney movies always have stereotypes and that they are racist. In addition, these stereotypes affect children’s minds in a bad way and spreads ignorance to those who need to learn, which forms a great danger in our society. Disney presents many stereotypes, and the most evident are Arabs, Native Americans and Blacks.
The first group that is stereotyped in Disney Films is the Arabs. In Disney movies, the Arabs are cheap, mean and they cut your hands if you steal. For example, in the movie Aladdin, the merchant is mean and wanted to cut Jasmine’s hand.
Another group that is presented in a stereotypical way is the Native Americans. In Disney movies, the Native Americans dress in weird clothes, cross their legs when they sit and shout lout loud. This is shown in the movie Peter Pan; the kids cross their legs while sitting, and start dancing and screaming in circles. Another example is Pocahontas, in this movie the tribe is dressed in weird clothes. These kind of films prove that Disney is stereotypical because Native Americans don’t shout and scream or sit with their legs crossed and shout out loud.
Finally, Disney films present many black stereotypes. In Disney films , the blacks talk slowly , look bad and look like animals. For example , in the movie Tarzan , we don’t see any black people , instead we see the gorillas. This is also evident in Dumbo, where the birds talk slowly. Disney films stereotype blacks in their movies.
It is clear that Disney films are stereotypical. We notice that in every Disney movie , there is a stereotype against Blacks , Native Americans and Arabs. Over all , the documentary shows how children’s minds are brain washed over watching Disney films.
If this keeps happening , ignorance will spread among our society and our children will grow up brain washed.
